For our recent project with Reedley Public Works, we took on a comprehensive roadway repair, addressing both the structural integrity and long-term durability of the surface. The project began with milling nearly 20,000 square feet of asphalt. The road had significant wear and damage, so removing the top layer was essential to get rid of the failed sections and prepare the surface for a fresh, stable foundation.
With the old asphalt out, we focused on grading select portions of the road to improve water runoff. Proper drainage is crucial to maintaining the road’s longevity, preventing water from pooling and causing further damage. The team adjusted the slope and elevation where needed.
After we completed the grading, we turned to compacting the base. Compaction is one of the most vital steps, as a well-compacted base sets the groundwork for a smooth, durable asphalt layer. Using heavy-duty rollers, we ensured that the base was compacted to specifications and ready for paving.
Finally, we laid over 360 tons of asphalt. Applying the asphalt at a consistent depth of 3 inches, we carefully controlled the laydown process to achieve a smooth, even surface. This attention to detail during the paving phase ensures that the road will be resilient and smooth for years to come.
The completed roadway now meets both the structural and functional needs of the city, providing Reedley’s residents with a safe, long-lasting road that handles traffic with ease.
