Creative Asphalt recently completed the first phase of a partial parking lot replacement for Hacienda Post Acute, a senior rehabilitation center in Hanford, CA. The project began over Thanksgiving weekend, and the remainder of the parking lot will be completed later this year.
The initial phase kicked off with the removal of the existing asphalt. However, progress was delayed by a week of rain immediately following the weekend. Once the weather cleared, we removed the valley gutter and the concrete ADA parking area. Addressing minor drainage issues was a priority before we poured new concrete for the gutter and ADA parking section—a process we recommend for long-term compliance with ADA standards, as concrete is less prone to shifting over time. This step took two days to complete.
After allowing the concrete to cure for a week, we returned to complete the project. We regraded small areas of the subbase before laying 250 tons of hot mix asphalt compacted to a 3-inch thickness. The following day, we striped the lot to meet ADA requirements and reinstalled the parking blocks.
Collaboration with the management team at Hacienda Post Acute was essential to the project’s success. They worked closely with us to coordinate scheduling, ensuring uninterrupted access for patients and staff during construction. We look forward to completing the remainder of the parking lot later this year.
